Nissan X-Trail Generations

Nissan X-Trail (T32) 2017 (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), 5st generation

The 2017 X-Trail surprised with its updates. Whereas the non-facelifted version had a simpler layout with some angle and clearly defined headlights, the facelift added a chrome element to the grille. Inside, adaptive cruise control was retained, and the curved dashboard was retained, but the instrument cluster with a color display between the dials was improved. Depending on the interior trim level, it was available with heated front and rear seats. Under the hood, the 2017 X-Trail offered a choice of two gasoline and one diesel engine. It was mated to a six-speed manual transmission on the base model, while the higher trim levels of the cabin were equipped with the X-Tronic automatic transmission (CVT).

Nissan X-Trail (T32) 2014 (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017), 4st generation

After two generations of square design for its compact SUV, Nissan designers found a way to make the X-Trail more aerodynamic and with softer lines. The Renault-Nissan alliance worked together to create a new platform for its future models. The CMF (Common Module Family) platform served their interests, and in the fall of 2014 the X-Trail was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. The car features some elements from the Nissan Murano and Qashqai (Rogue Sport), a new grille with chrome trim and a windshield with rake to reduce aerodynamic noise and drag resistance. The higher trim levels of the headlights used LEDs and a handsome line of aftermarket headlights. A glass panoramic roof was available as an option.

Nissan X-Trail (T31) 2007 (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013), 3st generation

The 2007 Nissan X-Trail was a lightweight, compact SUV with an all-wheel drive system and no downshift. The second generation Nissan X-Trail was introduced in 2007 at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show, and sales began that year. Even though it featured the same design language as the first generation, it was a completely new car. The second generation retained the sturdy square design of the 2000 model, but with rounded corners and larger headlights. The large and wide D-pillar was a characteristic detail for the second-generation X-Trail. Inside, there were important changes. The first generation featured an instrument cluster mounted on the top side of the dashboard. Buyers complained, and designers took notice and replaced them behind the wheel. The large interior accommodated five adults, and the flat rear floor left more legroom for all three in the back.

Nissan X-Trail (T30) 2003 (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007), 2st generation

Nissan introduced a mid-lifecycle update for the first-generation X-Trail in 2003, improving a vehicle that was already one of the best in its segment. The updated X-Trail showed some muscle under its square body and front grille. Its steep windshield and upright side windows confirmed its off-road heritage. Its high-mounted headlights and taillights protected them from bushes and small bumps. Inside, Nissan installed a wide, flat dashboard with a mid-mounted instrument cluster. Under the hood, Nissan upgraded the engine lineup to Euro 4 emissions standards. Although it partnered with Renault, it did not take any engines from the French automaker.

Nissan X-Trail (T30) 2001 (2001, 2002, 2003), 1st generation

Based on Nissan’s FF-S platform, the X-Trail was launched with a choice of two gasoline engines with capacities of 2.0 L and 2.5 L and one 2.2 L turbocharged common – rail diesel unit. With outputs ranging from 136 hp to 165 hp and a choice of 2-wheel/4-wheel drive, the X-Trail is a sturdy and versatile city/country road vehicle. Crashes? No worries, for EuroNCAP tests have awarded the car 4 stars for its front occupants protection.
