Approvals Volkswagen Motor Oil

VW 500.00

Volkswagen’s specification for multigrade engine oils for gasoline engines with SAE 5W-X/10W-X viscosity. This is an “old” oil specification and is applicable to engines built before the model year 2000 (up to August 1999). Oils with an approval made post-March 1997 were given an alternative, later VW specification.

VW 501.01

Conventional motor oils are suitable for some VW engines built before MY 2000. This is an “old” oil specification and is applicable to engines built before the model year 2000 (up to August 1999). Oils with an approval made post-March 1997 were given an alternative, later VW specification.

VW 502.00

Oil for gasoline engines. The successor of VW 501.01 and VW 500.00 specification. Recommended for those who are subject to arduous conditions. It must not be used for any engines with variable service intervals or any which are referred to under other specifications.

VW 503.00

Long-life gasoline engine oil for VW cars with WIV (system for longer service intervals). Also meets ACEA A1, SAE 0W-30, or 5W-30 specification.

VW 503.01

This specification is specifically for Audi RS4, Audi TT, S3, and Audi A8 6.0 V12 models with outputs of more than 180bhp running with variable service intervals (30,000 km or 2 years). Now superseded by the VW 504.00 specification.

VW 504.00

The VW 504 00 specification supersedes the VW 503 00 and VW 503.01 specifications. VW 504 00 oils are suitable for engines meeting the demands of Euro IV emissions standards.

VW 505.00

Passenger car diesel engine oil specification, minimum performance level CCMC PD-2. Lists viscosity SAE 5W-50, 10W-50/60, 15W-40/50, 20W-40/50 requiring 13% max. evaporation loss and SAE 5W-30/40, 10W-30/40 requiring 15% max. evaporation loss.

VW 505.01

Special engine oil for VW turbo diesel engines with pump-injector-unit and for the V8 Common rail turbo diesel engines. Meets ACEA B4 SAE 5W-40 specification.

VW 506.00

These oils are suitable for diesel engines with extended service intervals of up to 50,000 km / 2 years. Not for use on engines with a single injector pump. The oil change is indicated by the electronic service indicator. Viscosity is SAE 0W30.

VW 506.01

These oils are especially for “Pumpe-Düse” (unit injector or “PD” engines) running on extended service intervals (30,000 – 50,000 km / 24 months). The oil change is indicated by the electronic service indicator.

VW 507.00

Low SAPS oils suitable for Euro 4 engines and almost all VAG diesel engines from 2000 onwards with extended service intervals, unitary injector pumps, and also Pumpe-Düse (“PD”) engines. Excludes V10, R5 engines, and VW Commercial vehicles without fitted DPF (diesel particulate filters) – these must use a 506 01 specification oil.

VW 508.00/509.00

This specification combo (508.00 for petrol, 509.00 for diesel) requires a 0W20 viscosity, fuel economy oil with long life additives. These specifications are NOT backward compatible with the earlier VW specifications. Recommended for the new 2.0 TFSI 140 kW and 3.0 TDI CR 160 kW VW/Audi engines.

Volkswagen Touareg Generations

Volkswagen Touareg 2018 (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), 5 generation

The third generation of Volkswagen’s biggest SUV was introduced in 2018 and was a significant improvement over its predecessors. On the exterior, the new LED matrix headlights were a big step forward. The grille had three horizontal chrome slats, increasing the width of the car. Otherwise, the car had simple lines reminiscent of the Passat Variant (station wagon). Inside the Touareg shone in all its glory. It was the exact opposite of the soft exterior. On the center console, the automaker installed a huge 15-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system. The digital cockpit (instrument cluster) was a 12-inch display. The only drawback was the steering wheel, which had the same design as on the Polo. The rear passengers had plenty of legroom and headroom. The trunk offered a healthy 810 liters (28.6 cubic feet) of space and could be increased by folding the rear seats to 1,800 liters (63.6 cubic feet). The Touareg was available with four engine options ranging from 234 to 421 hp. The standard transmission was an eight-speed automatic with all-wheel drive for the entire range.

Volkswagen Touareg 2014 (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019), 4 generation

There are not many improvements in 2014, but there are still some. First there was the exterior, then the interior and some technical details. As usual for the German manufacturer, the interior has also been updated. On the outside, the first noticeable detail is the front end. The Touareg got a new grille with four chrome lines instead of two as before. The new lines extend to larger bi-xenon headlights, which are standard on all trim levels of the interior. A new “Chrome & Style” package with chrome stripes on the sides and rear of the car is offered. The 2014 version of the Touareg was marketed with diesel (TDI), gasoline (FSI and TSI) and hybrid (TSI plus electric motor) models. All engines were equipped with the high-performance Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission.

Volkswagen Touareg 2010 (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014), 3 generation

In 2010, Volkswagen claims the biggest technical evolution of the car in the history of the company. Bi-Xenon headlights were used, and the shape of the bumper increased the angle of attack. Inside the cabin, the driver was spoiled with a host of features even in the standard version. The infotainment system had a touch screen on the center console with iPod connectivity in the glove compartment. Volkswagen’s concept for the instrument cluster was the same across the range with a tachometer, speedometer, fuel level and coolant temperature. There was a smaller display between the large analog dials for additional information. The Touareg had plenty of room for five passengers, and there was no seven-seat option. There was a wide range of engines and transmissions. When the Touareg had the off-road package, the Torsen center differential was replaced by a transfer case and a lower gear. It also had a center and rear differential lockable with a knob on the console. The standard suspension was on coil springs, but air suspension was available. This could be used to raise the car off-road or lower it when driving on the highway.

Volkswagen Touareg 2007 (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010), 2 generation

The 2007 Touareg was better equipped and equipped with more powerful engines than the previous generation. It was also equipped with a turbocharged V10 diesel engine and was used to tow a Boeing 747. The exterior of the updated version was the same, but some details were changed. While the first model had a pair of headlights similar to those on the Volkswagen Phaeton after the facelift, they were replaced by new shaped headlights. The taillights were also redesigned. Inside, the Touareg featured elegant upholstery for higher interior trim levels, while base models retained the cloth seats. There were more important updates for the engines, too. The base engine was still the R5 with a 5-cylinder diesel engine, but it was increased to 172 hp. In the U.S., the 3.0-liter diesel and 3.6-liter gasoline engines were the top sellers. The standard transmission for base models up to 3.0-liter displacement was a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission for all other versions.

Volkswagen Touareg 2002 (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007), 1 generation

The first generation Volkswagen Touareg was shown at the Paris Motor Show in September 2002, and its appearance shocked the world. The brand, with virtually no off-road experience, attacked the market of traditional SUV manufacturers. The first-generation Touareg had large windows, widened arches and rounded body panels. Inside the car, the front seats were large and comfortable, separated by a wide center console. The high seating position gave room for the rear passengers. It was not available for the 7-seat version, but five passengers could travel in comfort. The car was designed on the same platform as the Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7. A new infotainment unit was mounted on the center console, and the dashboard had a typical VW layout. As for engines, the Touareg borrowed some from commercial vehicles and some from other brands in the Volkswagen Group. The most powerful version, the V10 TDI engine, was used in a commercial stunt where the car was towing a Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet.
