Approvals ILSAC Motor Oil

ILSAC GF-1

The ILSAC GF-1 standard indicates the oil meets both API SH and the Energy Conserving II (EC-II) requirements. It was created in 1990 and upgraded in 1992 and became the minimum requirement for oil used in American and Japanese automobiles.

ILSAC GF-2

ILSAC GF-2 replaced GF-1 in 1996. The oil must meet both API SJ and EC-II requirements. The GF-2 standards requires 0W-30, 0W-40, 5W-20, 5W-30, 5W-40, 5W-50, 10W-30, 10W-40 and 10W-50 motor oils to meet stringent requirements for phosphorus content, low temperature operation, high temperature deposits and foam control.

ILSAC GF-3

An ILSAC GF-3 an oil must meet both API SL and the EC-II requirements. The GF-3 standard has more stringent parameters regarding long-term effects of the oil on the vehicle emission system, improved fuel economy and improved volatility, deposit control, and viscosity performance. The standard also requires less additive degradation and reduced oil consumption rates over the service life of the oil.

ILSAC GF-4

ILSAC GF-4 is similar to the API SM service category, but it requires an additional sequence VIB Fuel Economy Test (ASTM D6837).

ILSAC GF-5

Introduced in October 2010 for 2011 and older vehicles, designed to provide improved high-temperature deposit protection for pistons and turbochargers, more stringent sludge control, improved fuel economy, enhanced emission control system compatibility, seal compatibility, and protection of engines operating on ethanol-containing fuels up to E85.

ILSAC GF-6

The ILSAC GF-6 specification is currently in development and will probably be divided into two sub-specifications. ILSAC GF-6A will be fully backward compatible with ILSAC GF-5 but would offer better fuel economy, better engine protection, and improved performance while maintaining durability. ILSAC GF-6B would deliver a similar performance as ILSAC GF-5A but will allow lower viscosity oils like xW-16, taking advantage of the fuel economy benefits offered by the new SAE 16 viscosity grade.

Oil service volume for Suzuki SX4

Suzuki SX4 Generations

Suzuki SX4 Sedan 2006 (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014), 1st generation

Suzuki and Fiat joined forces and introduced the SX4 and Sedici in 2006, but the Japanese automaker decided to go its own way with a sedan version. Despite the fact that the company hired the famous designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, the result was not the most beautiful car in its segment. It wasn’t even average, and in sedan form it was even worse. While the front of the car looked good with its backward-facing headlights and inverted trapezoidal grille with rounded corners, the profile of the car was a different story. It was a story in which the greenhouse and trunk were too tall for the car’s length, and the widened wheel arches carried over from the SX4 crossover didn’t look good. Inside, the rounded dashboard had an instrument cluster with a wide speedometer in the middle and a tachometer on the left. The right side of the dashboard had fuel and coolant temperature gauges. Suzuki carried over the center panel from the SX4 crossover, with round dials for the climate control unit and CD radio at the top. At the rear, a split folding seatback, unusual for a budget segment, extends the 515-liter (18.2 cubic feet) trunk space to allow the owner to load longer items. Under the hood, Suzuki kept the Fiat-designed gasoline engines ranging from 112 hp to 152 hp, depending on the market. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, while a four-speed automatic or CVT were on the options list.

Due to low sales of the SX4 S-Cross model released in 2013, Suzuki decided to update the model to attract more buyers. The new SX4 S-Cross was heavily redesigned and introduced a completely new front end. The hood has been raised and the nose is more upright, giving “a stronger and bolder presence on the road,” as Suzuki stated. The rather nameless grille we saw on the previous model has been replaced by a large chrome grille with vertical slats, the bumper has been updated, and the headlights have undergone significant changes. At the rear, the SX4 S-Cross got an updated bumper and slightly different taillights. The main upgrade was designed to bring the SX4 S-Cross’s design and features closer to those of an SUV. The interior didn’t receive any major upgrades, but the quality of materials was improved with softer plastics and optional lighter materials. The interior still has materials that are easy to scratch, but they look well finished. The infotainment system available on the SX4 S-Cross has been borrowed from the Vitara and is larger and more responsive. Trunk space was increased by the reclining rear seat backrest to 440 liters. Driving characteristics were improved with a stiffer body and tuned suspension, and although slight body roll was noticeable at high speeds, the SX4 S-Cross had good traction and was nimble enough to offer a fun ride.

Suzuki SX4 2013 (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), 2st generation

The Suzuki SX-4 S-Cross is the second generation of a small crossover from a Japanese manufacturer that was not co-built with Fiat like the first generation. After Fiat withdrew from its joint venture with Suzuki to produce small crossovers, the Japanese company decided to move forward on its own and created the second generation SX4 S-Cross. The car was closer to the C-segment of sport-utility vehicles, but it was still a crossover. A mix between a small class and a compact SUV. When designers increased the size of the car, the A-pillars were moved back to reinforce the two-volume design instead of the first-generation MPV look. It was taller and had a larger wheelbase to provide more legroom for rear passengers. The new headlights could be fitted with xenon lights and LED daytime running lights. The SX4 S-Cross was equipped with 2WD as standard, but an electronically controlled all-wheel drive system was available as an option. Rear independent suspension was available only for all-wheel drive system.

Suzuki SX4 2006 (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013), 1st generation

Suzuki leveraged its expertise in four-wheel drive vehicles as part of an agreement with Fiat to produce the SX4 in Europe. Inside, the SX4 offers ample headroom for five passengers and taller seats for better legroom. The rear seats have a split-folding and reclining mechanism to expand the small trunk. A dashboard with three dials and four gauges gave the driver the information he needed. In addition to engines from Fiat (1.6-liter gasoline and 1.9-liter turbodiesel), Suzuki installed its own versions with gasoline and turbodiesel units. In addition, several versions with automatic transmission were offered. Fiat and Suzuki developed a semi-independent rear suspension for both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive systems.
