Nissan Qashqai Generations

Nissan Qashqai 2021 (2021, 2022), 5st generation

The 2021 model was built on the CMF-C Alliance platform shared with the Nissan Rogue and Mitsubishi Outlander. Its front grille with an enlarged V-shaped chrome trim was a hallmark of the Nissan brand. The fourth-generation Qashqai showcased a different lighting signature: LED daytime running lights on the top and subtle LED headlights on the bottom. Its bold appearance was a clear testament to the success of the car, which has sold more than three million units worldwide in previous generations. Inside, Nissan sent the Qashqai into a new age of technology, introducing a 9-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system and a 12.3-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster. In addition, Nissan introduced a 10.8-inch projection display, which displayed all the necessary information projected on the windshield. Under the hood, the automaker introduced an e-Power version based on a gasoline engine and an electric motor. Soft-hybrid versions with a 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine have joined the rest of the lineup. There are no more turbo-diesel versions.

Nissan Qashqai 2018 (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), 4st generation

The biggest changes in the Nissan Qashqai facelift are found in the exterior, which now features an integrated front bumper as standard with vents on each side to help cool the engine. The updated front end is also adorned with the latest version of Nissan’s “V-motion” grille, which accompanies two new versions of the Nissan badge, depending on whether or not the model is equipped with Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB). Rounding out the redesign are new headlight units with a refined signature boomerang daytime running lights. Qashqai won the hearts of buyers because of its many qualities. The trunk was one of the largest in its class. Carrying capacity was 430 liters, so it was ideal for family vacations. The rear seats folded down, increasing the payload by 1,596 liters. The cabin itself was spacious, with ample legroom for passengers in the rear, as well as ample headroom for everyone sitting in the car.

Nissan Qashqai 2013 (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), 3st generation

In 2013, Qashqai offered fully LED headlights for the upper levels of the interior trim. Inside, the Qashqai combines innovative technology and common sense for everyday tasks. The seats, for example, were designed using advanced medical scanning techniques and inspired by NASA to analyze pressure and blood flow in the lower back of seated passengers. Comfort made the car sell even better. Six gasoline engines and only two types of diesel engines were offered under the hood. For transmission, a six-speed manual or variator was offered. Since the demand for 2wd was higher than for 4wd in Western Europe, some engines were not available even with the smart 4×4 traction system.

Nissan Qashqai 2010 (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013), 2st generation

For 2010, the Qashqai received a major image improvement with the introduction of a mid-lifecycle update. A new front fascia with a more dynamic look was much more appealing to buyers. The grille and hood have also been updated. At the rear, LED taillights were installed instead of the regular bulbs. Inside, the Qashqai accommodated up to seven passengers in the +2 version with an extended wheelbase. Basic equipment was decent, and there was even a standard Bluetooth connection to the audio system. The on-board computer got a white LCD screen located between the tachometer and speedometer. As for the engine bay, the car has lost the previously used 2.0-liter turbodiesel engines and new 1.6-liter units have been installed. Although they lost a few horses down the road, torque remained the same, but at lower revs, which improved fuel efficiency.

Nissan Qashqai 2007 (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010), 1st generation

More than suitable for city use due its good suspension, elevated ground clearance and soundproofing, Qashqai’s stamina is fueled through a choice of engines ranging in capacity from 1.5 L to 2.0 L. Available in both 2 and 4-wheel drive modes coupled with a standard 6-speed manual transmission or an optional CVT one, the Qashqai seems to be the wheeled corespondent of a Persian wild horse. Stylish and reliable, the car is also safe having scored maximum points during last year’s EuroNCAP tests.
