Approvals ILSAC Motor Oil

ILSAC GF-1

The ILSAC GF-1 standard indicates the oil meets both API SH and the Energy Conserving II (EC-II) requirements. It was created in 1990 and upgraded in 1992 and became the minimum requirement for oil used in American and Japanese automobiles.

ILSAC GF-2

ILSAC GF-2 replaced GF-1 in 1996. The oil must meet both API SJ and EC-II requirements. The GF-2 standards requires 0W-30, 0W-40, 5W-20, 5W-30, 5W-40, 5W-50, 10W-30, 10W-40 and 10W-50 motor oils to meet stringent requirements for phosphorus content, low temperature operation, high temperature deposits and foam control.

ILSAC GF-3

An ILSAC GF-3 an oil must meet both API SL and the EC-II requirements. The GF-3 standard has more stringent parameters regarding long-term effects of the oil on the vehicle emission system, improved fuel economy and improved volatility, deposit control, and viscosity performance. The standard also requires less additive degradation and reduced oil consumption rates over the service life of the oil.

ILSAC GF-4

ILSAC GF-4 is similar to the API SM service category, but it requires an additional sequence VIB Fuel Economy Test (ASTM D6837).

ILSAC GF-5

Introduced in October 2010 for 2011 and older vehicles, designed to provide improved high-temperature deposit protection for pistons and turbochargers, more stringent sludge control, improved fuel economy, enhanced emission control system compatibility, seal compatibility, and protection of engines operating on ethanol-containing fuels up to E85.

ILSAC GF-6

The ILSAC GF-6 specification is currently in development and will probably be divided into two sub-specifications. ILSAC GF-6A will be fully backward compatible with ILSAC GF-5 but would offer better fuel economy, better engine protection, and improved performance while maintaining durability. ILSAC GF-6B would deliver a similar performance as ILSAC GF-5A but will allow lower viscosity oils like xW-16, taking advantage of the fuel economy benefits offered by the new SAE 16 viscosity grade.

Mitsubishi L 200 Generations

Mitsubishi L 200 Double Cab 2015 (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), 8st generation

The 2015 Mitsubishi L200 pickup is the fifth generation of the trusted Japanese SUV. Strict Euro 6 emission standards are a big problem for most car manufacturers, but for some it is even more difficult. The L200 has a purpose-built engine that no other vehicle in the automaker’s small lineup has. The 2.4 diesel unit has been improved and now offers 150 hp, while the previous HO variant (high horsepower with 163 hp) is no longer considered. Available transmissions are either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic. Mitsubishi is well known in the off-road world for its Super-Select 4×4 system, which is unique in the market because of its ability to shift and lock differentials off-road. Special attention was paid to the cabin, which easily accommodates five passengers. However, the rear multi-passenger seat is not the most comfortable seat in the automotive industry because of its nearly upright backrest. The infotainment unit supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a navigation system and special off-road programs.

Mitsubishi L 200 Club Cab 2015 (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), 7st generation

The 2015 Mitsubishi L200 Club Cab is the Crew Cab version of the fifth-generation L200 pickup. Like its big brother, the L200 Club Cab went on sale in 2015, offering more style, equipment and performance than ever before. Visually, the L200 Club Cab is sharper, without the bubbly shape and with sharp angles and wide arches to enhance the “SUV.” The interior gets a redesigned dashboard, glossy plastic panels, and redesigned seats. Storage space isn’t an issue, and in terms of equipment, the L200 comes with everything you’d find in a standard passenger car — a touchscreen infotainment system with plenty of connectivity, steering-wheel-mounted quick access buttons, power windows and mirrors, cruise control, lane departure warning, rearview camera, climate control and more.

Mitsubishi L 200 Double Cab 2005 (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), 6st generation

The double cab is no different from the other two versions, with very few exceptions, such as the larger cab, which provides comfortable seating for four people, and the shorter cargo area. The size of the XXL pickup makes it quite impressive, not to mention safe on the road, especially on European routes, where large vehicles like the L 200 are not commonplace as they are in the United States. Its biggest 3.5-liter V6 engine offers a maximum output of 178 hp and 218 Nm of maximum torque. While these are not the best figures for a car in its class, the L 200 is still a reliable, surprisingly well finished car that can perform as well as others on many tasks.

Mitsubishi L 200 Crew Cab 2005 (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), 5st generation

With the second generation L200, Mitsubishi tried to offer more than just a rugged workhorse. It presented the vehicle as a lifestyle pickup with a more refined design than its predecessor. The Crew-Cab version of the L200 featured a new design language with rounded shapes and sharp corners. The fluted grille and pentagonal headlights were unusual for a pickup truck. Its wrap-around plastic bumper flaunted a grille mounted on a vertical body-color bar in the middle of the grille. The crew cab was more elongated than the single-cab version, but had only two doors. So it could have more interior space than the single cab, but it still had a bed length of 2220 mm (7.3 feet), which was more than the double cab could provide. Inside, the automaker installed a pair of bucket seats in the front, separated by a tall center console with an armrest. Regardless of the interior trim level, it had the same hard plastic dashboard that reminded customers it could do the heavy lifting. Behind the front seats, the automaker added storage space. Also, thanks to the longer cab, the front seats could be reclined as long as they were fully pushed back.

Mitsubishi L 200 Single Cab 2005 (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), 4st generation

The lowest visually appealing of the series, the singe cab provides room for two only but compensates through a larger bed which allows for plenty of cargo storage. Powered by the same range of engines, the Single Cab version brings nothing new. The latest 2008 model was tested by EuroNCAP standards which deemed it as an overall safe car. The car’s sturdy structure can withstand both frontal and side impact although in the first’s case, risks of major chest and leg injuries have been exposed. However, protection was rated as excellent in the event of a side impact. This is probably the reason why Mitsubishi never fitted the L 200 with side airbags.

Mitsubishi L 200 Crew Cab 1995 (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005), 3st generation

Mitsubishi introduced the second generation L200 in 1995 and offered it in three cab versions, with the Crew-Cab located between the two-seat Single-Cab and five-seat Double-Cab. Its design showed softer edges and curved lines on the front and door panels. Unlike other American pickups, the L200 had no rear half doors in the body, it had only two regular doors. Although it was an all-terrain vehicle, it had smoother lines on the body and curved panels. Under the hood, the Mitsubishi had a 2.5-liter turbodiesel paired with a five-speed manual. Depending on the market, it was available with a 4×4 system with a transfer case and a downshift.
