Kia K900 Generations
Kia K900 2019 (2019, 2020), 2 generation
Whether it was Kia’s way of displaying what it was capable of, or an aspirational self-motivational piece of engineering to celebrate 20 years in the U.S., it was met with low sales, as expected. On paper, the K900 was a good value, but the proposition of an expensive high-end Kia didn’t yet add up. Contrary to expectations and in the face of poor sales numbers, Kia doubled down on the K900 and introduced a brand-new second-generation model for 2019.
Kia K900 2015 (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), 1 generation
When Kia introduced the K900 to the U.S. market for 2015, it was met with the same question from consumers and experts: why? A $55,000-60,000 full-size, full-luxury rear-drive sedan available with a 420-horsepower V8 was an interestingly random offering from a Korean company that is still proving the quality of its $20,000-30,000 vehicles to mainstream American buyers. A surprisingly well-appointed and finely designed interior proved Kia knew how to create a luxurious experience. Despite a powerful powertrain, the K900’s loafing handling, steering, and overall demeanor drew comparisons to the rear-drive plush-mobiles of old America. A 311-horsepower V6 model was introduced for the 2016 model year.
