Jaguar XF Generations
Jaguar XF 2020 (2020), 5 generation
It is already well known that even from the beginnings, Jaguar was all about creating big luxury sedans. The brand did not disappoint with its XF released for 2020 and presented an even more appealing car, both the interior and the exterior being redesigned.
Jaguar XF 2015 (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020), 4 generation
The 2015 Jaguar XF kept the same seductive look of the 2007 British saloon, but somehow it manages to be even better looking. Underneath though, lies a completely new platform better than the old S-Type platform which was used for the first generation of the XF. The wheelbase was increased by 55 mm (2,1”), reaching now a total of 2960 mm (116.5”). The result is an increase in the rear passenger’s legroom. But, since the front overhang is shorter by 66 mm (2.6”), the total length is slightly shorter than the previous XF. But the biggest gain is that the weight distribution is now 50:50, offering better handling for the car.
Jaguar XF 2012 (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), 3 generation
The 2013 Jaguar XF is a facelift model, coming with new engines and an eight speed automatic transmission. Changes include new grille, hood, front wings with new triangular side vents, HID headlights, new LED stoplights, and trunk lid. The interior comes with a new instrument panel, more powerful sound system, and new seats. Key among the enhancements to Jaguar XF is the introduction of the 2.2-litre AJ-i4D turbodiesel engine which is perfectly matched by a new 8-speed automatic transmission and intelligent Stop/Start system.
Jaguar XF 2011 (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), 2 generation
Jaguar unveiled the 2011 XF with a new, 2.2-liter engine. It was the same unit used on the Land Rover Freelander and it was the result of a joint-effort between Ford and PSA (Peugeot-Citroen group). The new, 190 hp unit was the promise to increase the fuel-efficiency. The 8-speed automatic transmission was new as well. Another important update was the new 5.0-liter Jaguar V8 gasoline engine with variable timing. It produced almost the same amount of power as the previous, supercharged unit.
Jaguar XF 2008 (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012), 1 generation
Meant as a replacement for the S-Type, the XF was launched in the UK in 2008 even if it was debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. The XF marked a new direction in styling for Jaguar even if it retained a lot of styling elements from the S-Type like the chromed badge and the mesh grille. Also taken from theS-Type was the engine line-up, with the base version a 3.0 liter V6 heavily adapted from a Ford Duratec V6. There are also turbocharged versions of the Jaguar AJ-V8 engine that has received a lot of favorable reviews.
