Dodge Magnum Generations

Dodge Magnum 2008 (2008), 4rd generation

In 2008, the Magnum had a new look and a slightly updated dashboard. Its bold styling rules the road, and the optional Hemi V-8 provides confident acceleration. Perhaps its biggest advantage is its distinctiveness – it’s been around for three years, and there’s nothing like it among wagons of comparable price. In a market crowded with conformism, it’s a welcome nonconformist.

Dodge Magnum 2007 (2007), 3rd generation

The Dodge Magnum offers two V-6 engines and two Hemi V-8 engines. Power ranges from 190 to 425 horsepower, and an automatic transmission is standard. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard, and anti-lock brakes are standard on most trims. The all-wheel-drive Magnum SXT and all R/Ts have more powerful brakes with ABS. The SRT8’s 6.1-liter eight-cylinder engine goes far beyond mere passing confidence to deliver terrific performance at any speed. A recalibrated five-speed automatic transmission makes the shifts sharper, giving acceleration an even more explosive feel. Dodge claims that the SRT8 can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds, putting it on par with the Porsche Boxster S.

Dodge Magnum 2006 (2006), 2rd generation

The 2006 Dodge Magnum is mostly unchanged from its 2005 debut year. These days everyone seems to want a vehicle with better fuel economy, but not everyone can get by with a compact car. Fortunately, within each vehicle class are models that are more efficient than others. Even within a model line, some drivetrain offerings can be more efficient than others.

Dodge Magnum 2005 (2005), 1rd generation

The 2005 Magnum has an innovative L-shaped tailgate that cuts into the roof line and opens vertically rather than tilting back. You don’t have to step back when you open it. And the design makes it easier to load larger items. The spacious cabin has gauges similar to those of a Viper sports car. The four-wheel-drive system is automatic, so you don’t have to flip switches or turn dials to engage it.
