Approvals GM Dexos Motor Oil

GM Dexos 1

Designed with gasoline engines in mind GM Dexos 1 replaces the GM-LL-A-025, GM6094M and GM4718M specifications. This specification is usually recommended for GM vehicles built for the North American and Asian markets. Compared to ILSAC GF-5 it has stricter requirements regarding piston deposit formation, aeration, oxidation stability, wear, low-temperature pumpability and volatility.

GM Dexos 2

The GM Dexos 2 specification is meant to be the replacement for both GM-LL-A-025 (gasoline) and GM-LL-B-025 (diesel) specifications for the European market. Oils meeting GM Dexos 2 are required for vehicles manufactured from MY2011 onward but they are also backward compatible with older models. This specification is built on the ACEA C3 standard but also contains elements from the ILSAC GF-4 deposit formation test and low-temperature sludge build-up test.

GM-LL-A-025

Special GM approval for long-life engine oil for gasoline engines. Viscosity is SAE 0W-30. Product meets ACEA A3/B3. Drain interval can be as long as 30 000 kms. Recommended for vehicles built before MY2011.

GM-LL-B-025

Special GM approval for long-life engine oil for diesel engines. Viscosity is SAE 5W-40. Product meets ACEA A3/B3/B4. Drain interval can be as long as 50 000 kms. Recommended for vehicles built before MY2011.

Chevrolet Cruze Generations

Chevrolet Cruze 2019 (2019), 9 generation

The front end has a new look with a larger grille and new headlamps. A six-speed manual transmission is no longer offered with the Cruze’s gas or diesel engine. The new Chevrolet Infotainment 3 multimedia system is standard and comes with a 7-inch touchscreen.

Chevrolet Cruze 2018 (2018), 8 generation

The Chevrolet Cruze is a compact car with a standard turbocharged gas engine, available in sedan and hatchback body styles. A turbo-diesel engine is available. The Cruze competes with the Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra. The turbo-diesel engine is now available for the Cruze hatchback.

Chevrolet Cruze 2017 (2017), 7 generation

The 153-horsepower four-cylinder engine comes in all trim levels of the Cruze and drives the front wheels through a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The turbocharged four cylinders sound more distinct when accelerating, even with the throttle fully open, and power increases smoothly. Acceleration is adequate, it feels about as fast as the 2016 Civic with the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Still, the Cruze’s turbocharged four-cylinder has some reserve power at speeds for overtaking.

Chevrolet Cruze 2016 (2016), 6 generation

The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze looks considerably sleeker than its predecessor even though it’s less than an inch lower than the prior model. Contributing to the look is greater windshield rake and a swept-back front end. It’s a tidy-looking small sedan, and the design is quite modern overall.

Chevrolet Cruze 2015 (2015), 5 generation

The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze receives minor updates for 2015 including a restyled front end Chevrolet says is inspired by the Impala and Malibu. Mobile connectivity is hot for the 2015 Cruze, which now includes an actual hotspot with newly released 4G LTE high-speed internet along with a few other mobile updates. The interior is also reworked slightly with relocated buttons and switches for added convenience.

Chevrolet Cruze 2014 (2014), 4 generation

The main change for 2014 is the addition of an efficient clean-diesel engine in a trim level Chevy officially calls the Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel, but labels simply with a trunk-lid badge that reads 2.0 TD. (We’ll just call it the Diesel). With EPA-rated fuel economy of 27/46/33 mpg city/highway/combined, it’s more efficient than the Cruze powered by either of the two available gasoline four-cylinders, including the highest-rated version with an automatic transmission, the Cruze Eco at 26/39/31 mpg.

Chevrolet Cruze 2013 (2013), 3 generation

There are many things to admire about the 2013 Cruze, but its looks are not one of them. The Cruze Eco looks like a typical compact car with not particularly attractive styling. Nevertheless, it is a huge improvement over its predecessor, the Chevrolet Cobalt. In addition to its looks, the Cruze is easy to use when loading and unloading its 15.4-cubic-foot trunk.

Chevrolet Cruze 2012 (2012), 2 generation

Models with the turbo 1.4-liter four-cylinder and the six-speed automatic transmission are more efficient for 2012 with the regular Cruze rated at 38 mpg on the highway and the Cruze Eco at 39 mpg. The Connectivity Plus Cruise Package is standard on 1LT and Eco models. It features Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, cruise control, and a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel, which has audio controls. All models except the manual-transmission Eco come with a compact spare tire.

Chevrolet Cruze 2011 (2011), 1 generation

In the Chevrolet Cruze, spaciousness is the most important thing. Its passenger volume is 95 cubic feet, which surpasses the Ford Focus with 93, Honda Civic with 91, and Toyota Corolla with 92. Likewise, its trunk volume is 15.4 cubic feet, surpassing the Focus’ 13.8, Civic 12.0 and Corolla 12.3. The manual front passenger seats had a longitudinal knob at the front and no less than three levers on the outside for height adjustment, lower cushion tilt and the aforementioned lever too far back. You’re unlikely to ever see such an adjustable manual driver’s seat, much less a front passenger’s seat. The Chevrolet Cruze has a comfortable ride, a good compromise between the stiffness of a world car and the softness of some American market cars.
